My research addresses the intertwined histories and futures of automation,
race, and cultural production, drawing on critical theory, media archaeology,
and the political economy of digital labor. Research interests include improvised
and experimental music, philosophy of technology, machine learning, physical
computing, software studies, games and virtual worlds, participatory design,
and social equity. Current projects include a book manuscript and an NSF
CAREER application examining voice, embodiment, and machine aesthetics.
